Serial Number: 127414
Year of Manufacture: 1902-1909
Caliber: .32 S&W

Markings: The top of the barrel rib is marked “SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT’D FEBY / 20.77. DEC.18.77. MAY 11.80. SEPT.11.83.OCT.2.83. TWO AUG.4.85.”. The left side of the barrel is marked '32 S.&W. CTG'. The rear face of cylinder is marked “127414”, the underside of the barrel latch is marked “127414” and the bottom of the grip frame are marked “127414”. The rear face of the topstrap is marked '127 / 414B'. There is a round S&W logo on the right side of the frame.
Barrel Length: The barrel is 3” in length and has a full-length rib.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a thin half-round blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a “U” notch at the front of the barrel latch.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered black hard rubber on a round butt grip frame. The grips have S&W monograms at the tops and smooth diamonds around the grip screw escutcheons. The left panel has scattered light marks in the smooth portions with one small spot of marring in the checkering at the bottom-rear. The right panel has scattered light marks in the smooth portions with a crack along the back which is visible at the top and bottom of the rear edge with the grip installed. The crack is in an arc-shape passing just to the inside of the reinforcement around the grip screw escutcheon. The checkering is well defined. The grips rate in about Good overall condition and would be Very Good-Fine but for the crack.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There are small spots of light erosion scattered in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 45% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges and there is light freckling evenly scattered throughout. The barrel has wear turning to a light patina at the muzzle on either side, more on the left. The frame has a few scattered light scratches, wear at the shoulder above the grip safety with light patina at the edges of the wear and wear filled with light patina in the frontstrap. The trigger is worn with oxidation spots on the front face but retains good case-color on its sides. The cylinder has a turn-line and some scattered light marks. The grip safety has gone to patina with well-defined checkering which has one small mark, approximately 2 checkers in size in the center. The screw heads range from lightly tool marked to slightly disfigured, all with useable slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, including the ejector. The cylinder lockup has little side-to-side play, no front-to-rear play and the barrel lockup has barely perceptible play to the frame. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: This is a Smith & Wesson .32 Safety Hammerless 2nd Model with a blued finish, 3” barrel and checkered black hard rubber grips. It was made between 1902 and 1909 with a total of about 78,500 made by Smith & Wesson in that time. These hammerless revolvers, also known as “Lemon Squeezers”, were very popular and continued to be manufactured as the Second and later the Third models until 1937. This revolver is in about Very Good overall condition with about 45% of its original finish remaining. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and spots of light erosion scattered in the bore. The serial numbers match on the frame, barrel, latch and cylinder and the mechanics are in surprisingly good condition. The “Squeeze Cockers” are a very collectible item, and if it goes unnoticed by the serious collectors, this will give the novice collectors a great start at collecting S&W vintage revolvers. Please see our photos and good luck!
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This C&R revolver can be sold/transferred in California. All cartridge firing handguns (even C&R's and antiques) sold to a California resident must be DROS'd. This does not apply to out of state residents.
